Do you want to be a Lumberjack?
At FFWCO we offer private classes to help individuals acclimate to mountain life and begin to produce their own firewood.
Our classes include easy to follow safety protocols related to chainsaw use, axe techniques, and general wood cutting.
Our instructors specialize in various areas of expertise, overlapping with the common goal of preparing you to be safe.
All wood is responsibly sourced from our national forest, local farmers, and residential clients in accordance with our fundamental goals of changing how firewood is produced and used.
FFWCO mixed wood cords may be composed of Ash, Avocado, Cedar, Chinese Elm, Eucalyptus, Maple, Oak, Orange, Pecan, Pepper, Pine, Sycamore, and Walnut. Wood sizes vary. To ensure pieces will fit your stove/fireplace, please include preferred largest size you require when ordering. The most common size is 16" in length. Custom sizes are always available.
Stove Cut firewood is designed to be used in all wood stoves and fire places, regardless of size restrictions. The density per and number of pieces per cords is dramatically increased, allowing for more intricate stacking and building smaller fires for shorter burn times if necessary. The wood mix mirrors standard percentages of our mixed wood cords.
Red Iron-wood Eucalyptus and Blue Gum Eucalyptus are both common varieties found in California. Additional hardwood varieties from this area would include Oak and Elm. Hardwood cords are not currently available as a stand alone product. We recommend ordering a mixed wood cord for a balanced burn; which provides a more consistent heat source (BTUs) for your home or other inside use(s).
Locally sourced Avocado, resulting from properly groomed and maintained orchards from southern California. Firewood size ranges from 10" to 24", and may be tailored to user specifications.
At FFWCO we provide training focussed on chainsaw use and maintenance, while helping you create safety protocols to protect yourself & your family. You can expect to save time and resources by learning from our experienced team. We help you to be safe while learning new skills.
The first step in producing firewood for heating purposes is becoming familiar with axe handling and maintaining your stamina while learning wood variety specific techniques for safe production.
